For over one hundred years this corner pub, previously known as the Wellington Bar, has provided a welcome haven for fish workers and ‘droughty’ locals.
Beginning with the back shop drinking in the original grocers store on site, through to the modern bar and lounge establishment of the present day, the premises has served the inhabitants of the Old Dee Village and surrounding area
The Lounge, at that time named The Arches, was one of the first locally to provide live music attracting people from far and wide seeking an evening of entertainment.
Bustling with activity during the heyday of the fishing industry, it was always busy with workers from the many fish houses that prospered within the arches across the road from which its name derived.
In the early 1970’s, the premises narrowly escaped a demolition enforcement notice in order to make way for a new dual carriageway. Fortunately, this development did not go ahead allowing the Ferryhill Tavern to exist up until the present day.
Over a century later the name may have changed but the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere remain the same. We invite you to sit back and enjoy the comfortable surroundings during your visit. We hope you enjoy our hospitality.
